About Variance
A house for difficult ideas.
Variance is a 30-day deep-tech founder residency in Bengaluru. Fourteen builders live and work together, with the resources to turn an uncertain technical idea into evidence.
Why we built it
Working on a hard technical problem often means finding a place to live, a laboratory, compute, collaborators and technical help separately. Variance brings these needs together around a month of focused work.
The residency is for founders and researchers working across robotics, hardware, applied physics, biotech, neurotechnology, foundational AI and other foundational technologies. The goal is a demonstrable technical result: a prototype, an experiment or clearer evidence about what can work.
The month is covered
There is no application fee, program fee or equity requirement. Housing, meals and workspace are covered. Residents receive access to a hardware lab, prototyping support, technical mentors and AI and cloud credits, with a need-based stipend.
Solo founders and small founding teams can apply. Each person needs to commit to living and building in the house for the full month. A prototype, research result or other proof of work matters more than credentials.
